Berlin is definitely one of the most interesting cities in Europe. In recent years, the German capital was characterized by constant changes. During this trip you will take a closer look at Berlin's history and will get the opportunity to immerse yourself in the city's culture.
Programme
Day 1
A bus will pick you up and transfer you to your accommodation.
To make the most out of your time in Berlin, a 4 hours city tour takes place in the afternoon. The tour shows many sights from the Kurfürstendamm in western Berlin to Alexanderplatz in the eastern city centre. A stop at Museum Island invites you to visit the world famous Pergamon Museum and take part in a guided tour of 1 hour - alternatively you can choose to visit the Bode Museum or the Old National Gallery. Afterwards our bus takes you back to your hotel where dinner is served.
Day 2
Today you will go on an 8 hours excursion to learn more about Berlin's culture and history. After breakfast our bus brings you to Kurfürstendamm where you will visit the exciting exhibition "The Story of Berlin". Here you will find 23 theme rooms equipped with up to date animation technology which make you experience 800 years of history from the beginnings to today. On top of that, a guided tour through an original nuclear shelter underneath the Ku'Damm Karree building is included in the 2 hour guided tour.
After lunch you can enjoy Berlin from the water side during a 1 hour boat trip through the new government district. Another highlight is waiting for your - a guided visit of the beautiful opera house "Staatsoper Unter Den Linden" where you will discover the building as well as the stage area with all its interesting details. The bus takes you back to the accommodation for dinner.
We recommend to spend the evening in one of the numerous theatres, cabarets etc. If you speak German you could for example visit the Grips Youth theatre, with a very interesting choice of plays related to life in Berlin like "Linie 1". Or maybe you prefer cabaret, for example in the BKA Berliner Kabarett Anstalt high above the rooftops of Berlin Kreuzberg.
Day 3
Right after breakfast you will check out and our bus takes you to the city centre. Here a 3 hours walking tour with one of our experienced guides will let you discover the sites of Berlin's recent history.
The tour starts at the Reichstag in the centre of the new government district. At Brandenburg Gate you will be introduced to the numerous embassies in the neighbourhood and to the reconstructed luxury hotel Adlon. After a little walk you will reach Gendarmenmarkt, one of the most beautiful places in Europe, and Checkpoint Charlie, the best known border crossing point during the Cold War. The tour ends at Potsdamer Platz, an architectural highlight based on a master plan of Renzo Piano. From the platform of the Daimler Chrysler Building you can enjoy a fantastic view over Berlin. Afterwards you can spend some time at Potsdamer Platz and have a little snack before the bus brings you to the airport / train station.
